this is a quick diagnostic of a very common issue/problem that arises in sportbikes. I highly recommend getting a service manual for a step by step procedure that will have all the specs. for your particular model bike since the voltage test readings may not be the same. Anyway, if you ever find one day that your bike slowly but surely loses its battery charge over a period of time then most likely you have shorted the harness. Other possibilities could be the voltage regulator and/or stator. but this is probably a more common issue to arise.

| Take off all the fairings and usually you will find
this harness attached to the frame by the seat area. Another good way
to find this harness is to locate the stator where a wire will be coming out
of which you can then trace up to the harness. Or you can just locate
the voltage regulator from the opposite end.

| notice how the plastic has melted through, most likely due
to the excess voltage rating that caused an overload meltdown. This usually occurs or better yet this particular case was due to a jump start from a battery charge boost. Sometimes when your in a rush like i was, you just gotta say f-it and hope for the best. Cause the only safe way to charge these batteries is with a trickle charge that needs to sit overnight. now to repair this is very simple, just use wire cutters to hard wire (or crimp connect) the melted wire directly to the opposite but equivalent wire of the other harness. So not necessarily bypass heart surgery but rather a simple concept.
