Materials

Plastic Bottle

Hose

clean towel

absorbant paper towel or tissues

DOT 4 Brake Fluid

Tools

8 mm open wrench

10 mm torque wrench

cross screwdriver

flat-head screwdriver

Time: 1 to 2 hours

take off the windshield so you can get to the brake reservoir.. remove the right and left mirrors to remove shield..

on the f2, there are two bleed valves on either side.. the valve on the right-side is the bleed valve so what we can do is remove both valves and switch the two..  then connect the hose to the left-side first..

open valve with 8 mm wrench..

pump (open and close the brake lever), until all the brake fluid flows out of the brake line and into the tube..  when no more flow of old brake fluid through tube is visible, remove both valves again and replace back to original position.. close both valves with 8 mm wrench..

now connect the hose to the bleed valve that is now on the right-side..

keep hose snug to bleed valve..

pump (open and close the brake lever), until you start seeing all the brake fluid flow out of the brake line and into the tube..  when no more flow of old brake fluid through tube is visible, close valve with 8 mm wrench..

clean the area around the brake reservoir (master cylinder) thoroughly so no dirt gets inside..

use cross-screwdriver to loosen both screws..

remove cover, plate, and diaphragm (pictured).. then 2nd cover..  if the brake fluid is old, then dirt and petroleum like jelly will be observed on corners and window glass.. clean thoroughly with absorbant towels (becareful not to get any dirt inside).. most of the old brake fluid should be gone..

now fill the reservoir with DOT4 brake fluid and pump the brake lever repeatedly for about 20 to 30 seconds..

then hold brake lever in..

with the brake lever held in, open the bleed valve by turning it about half-way..

observe the fluid begin to flow into the plastic container..  the container should be filled a little with clean brake fluid with the other end of the hose immersed below the liquid level in case air flows back into the valve (noticed it didnt really flow back enough after bleeding enough times so this wasnt really an issue..)

keeping the brake lever closed..

close the bleed valve again..

the brake fluid in the reservoir will go down a little bit each time its bled through the valve (hence, brake bleeding).

probably wont have to fill her after a few bleeds cause it takes a little at a time.. ensure the fluid does not reach the point of the drainage..

fill up to the top of the eye-glass or enough to bleed again.. then pump the brake lever again for another 20 to 30 seconds and repeat bleeding..

keep brake lever closed when opening the bleed valve..

now close the bleed valve..

start pumping again while keeping an eye on the fluid in the brake reservoir..

an hour or two will probably go by until the brake lever starts to build up..   notice air bubbles in the reservoir which is a good sign that the process is almost done..  the objective is to get all the air out of the system.. the more air pushed out, the sooner the brake lever will be up to par..

finally, fill the brake reservoir until its above the lower line through the eye-glass..
the first picture is the old brake fluid, notice how reddish jelly like it is..

the second picture is about half-way through the process..

the final picture is the last filter of the new brake fluid put in.. nice & clean..
